BLACKBURN FESTIVAL OF FILM (BFoF)

Be inspired by the next generation of filmmakers and screenwriters

Blackburn Festival of Film

Blackburn Festival of Film

Festival Schedule Overview

Welcome to the very first Blackburn Festival of Film — a celebration of creativity, community, and cinematic storytelling.

Our mission is to champion local talent and ignite the ambitions of the next generation of filmmakers. Throughout the two-day festival, we’ll spotlight the region’s vibrant creative scene and offer practical inspiration for anyone dreaming of a career in film and television.

The festival welcomes an incredible lineup of guests, including an acclaimed actress known for her roles in Mobland and Bridgerton, a Hollywood producer with a track record of blockbuster success, and an award-winning sound recordist who has worked alongside stars like Scarlett Johansson. Their presence brings real industry insight and inspiration to Blackburn.

At the heart of the festival are hands-on workshops led by industry professionals, designed to equip young creatives with the skills, confidence, and insights needed to thrive in the screen industries. From intimate Q&As to interactive sessions covering essential aspects of filmmaking, attendees will gain real-world knowledge directly from those shaping the industry today.

We’re also proud to support Northern voices through the Blackburn Film Fund, which awarded £2,000 grants to emerging filmmakers to bring their ideas to life. With support from Blackburn College’s Film Academy (The BFA), recipients gained access to resources and mentorship, helping nurture a new generation of storytellers from the Blackburn with Darwen borough.

Between all these amazing sessions we’re hosting a superb short film competition with both professional and student categories.

Whether you’re a film enthusiast, student, or aspiring director, the Blackburn Festival of Film (BFoF) promises an inspiring, enriching experience. Join us as we celebrate the power of film to connect, challenge, and transform.
